I grew up in a small fishing town on the Atlantic, learning to read weather before I learned to read books. Photography arrived later — a borrowed Pentax K1000, a darkroom in a school basement, and the slow miracle of an image surfacing in a tray.

Today I split my time between Lisbon and assignment travel for clients including Kinfolk, Cereal, Hermès and The New York Times Magazine. I still shoot most personal work on film, mostly because it makes me slower, and slowness is the entire point.
